Patron saint of the IT specialists!

Knew it? The IT specialists, the computer users, the Internet and the Internet users have their Patron saint.

It’s Saint Isidore of Seville, member of the Catholic Church (VIIth century), bishop of Seville, who was proposed as such in 2001.

Isidore de Seville par Murillo

Isidore of Seville by Murillo

Why? Because of his major work, Etymologiae, composed of twenty books, which proposes an etymological analysis of the words. His distinctive characteristic: a structure which reminds certain databases and prefigures the alphabetical classification, then the notion of index.

Surprising no?
